TESTED: NATURAL DEODORANTS
Years ago, I developed an issue with deodorant out of the blue. First, my armpits started to itch and itch and itch... Then they decided to no longer participate in the whole odor blocking thing. So I began my hunt for other deodorant options.
If you struggle with a similar issue, here's some tips that really helped me. I tried just about every deodorant you can buy. This helped me narrow down what my body didn't like: aluminum & coconut scents and what it does like: lavender scents. So in this review, you will find only lavender scented deodorants.
As I was reviewing these, I noticed all the claims each had: gluten free, baking soda free, & so on. I had no idea why any of those were bad or good or what their purpose was in deodorant. So I also included a list of all the claimed ingredients, their purpose, and why they are good or bad for your reference.
INGREDIENT REFERENCE GUIDE
I go into detail on several of these here.

Free of:
Baking soda
Gluten
*Sustainable packaging, vegan, & cruelty free.
Odor Block Score: 5. This was by far the worst of the bunch. It did not take effect on me until day 4. I was having to do multiple applications a day.
EWG Score: -
Scent: Lavender & Lemon. Smells just like lavender essential oil - very similar to Schmidts.
Pros:
Smooth application
Smells nice
Cons:
Expensive
Took 4 days for odor protection
Application is very "wet" feeling
Will I buy? No
#5 Underarmed $14.99 (2.63 oz: $5.70/oz)
Free of:
*Cruelty free & organic.
Odor Block Score: 6: The smell is a little odd on this one. It does a decent job at odor protection most of the day.
EWG Score: -
Scent: Lavender & Eucalyptus. This combo is odd for me. The lavender smells bitter. I don't really get the eucalyptus scent.
Pros:
Provides decent odor protection
Cons:
Expensive
Hard to find
Smell is odd
Very, very sticky
It doesn't protect all day, everyday. Some days it would and others it wouldn't. And it didn't correlate with my activity level.
Will I buy? No
#4 Native $11.97 (2.65 oz: $4.52/oz)
Free of:
Odor Block Score: 7: This was by far my favorite at first. BUT it is very inconsistent at odor protection. It either does great or does nothing. The scent is my favorite though.
EWG Score: 1
Scent: Lavender & Rose. I can smell each of these scents and they go so well together. It is very soft and not overpowering.
Pros:
Smooth application
Decent at odor protection
Scent is the best

Cons:
Not reliable for odor protection.
Will I buy? No. It is too inconsistent with odor protection.

Scent: Lavender. Smells just like the essential oil, similar to the others.
Pros:
Great odor protection
Smooth application
Smells nice
Cons:
Pricey
Hard to find
Will I buy? Yes
#2 Schmidts $8.55 (3.25oz: $2.36/oz)
Free of:
Propylene glycol
*Vegan & cruelty free.
Odor Block Score: 8. This has been my go to deodorant for years.
EWG Score: 1
Scent: Lavender & Sage. It smells like lavender essential oil. I don't smell sage.
Pros:
Actually works at odor blocking, most of the time
Well priced
Easily accessible
Smells nice
Cons:
Really dry & rough application. You need to hold it to your skin for about a minute to "warm it up" so it will spread. *Update* I purchased another one and the consistency was much smoother and not near as rough as the one before. So there may be some inconsistencies with that.
It seems to only work for some time (~2 months) then the odor is back. For me, all I had to do was change scents. I would alternate between this scent and the Rose & Vanilla scent.
Will I buy? Yes, but I will keep it as my back up.
#1 Little Seed Farm $13.99 (2.4oz: $5.83/oz)
Free of:

Gluten
*Organic, cruelty free
Odor Block Score: 10
EWG Score: 1

Cons:
You need a spatula to apply.
Can be difficult to find
Expensive
Will I Buy? Yes. This is what I now use daily.
